Lekgoledi Arts & Cultural Centre is a women and youth-led rural-based community arts organization in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo, pioneering the development of the rural creative and cultural arts sector.
Six pillars that define our mission and impact across Limpopo.
In-depth research and projects that address the real needs of rural artists and cultural practitioners. We conduct participatory research to map cultural assets, document indigenous knowledge, and co-design interventions with communities.
Preserving and promoting Sepedi and Bapedi heritage through arts, storytelling, music, dance, and traditional knowledge. We work with elders and cultural practitioners to document oral histories and revive endangered practices.
Platforms for youth skills training in animation, coding, performing arts, and business development for sustainable livelihoods. Our 4-month programs combine technical skills with entrepreneurial training and mentorship.
Organizing regional cultural events, carnivals, and the annual Sepedi Cultural Heritage Festival to showcase local talent. We co-create events with traditional authorities, municipalities, and artists.
Creating safe spaces for visual arts, poetry, theatre, music, and digital animation for emerging rural artists. We run artist residencies, open mic nights, and digital labs where rural artists can experiment and collaborate.
Addressing critical social issues like Gender-Based Violence through creative arts, workshops, and community campaigns. We use arts-based approaches to tackle GBV, HIV/AIDS stigma, and youth unemployment.
The 4th Annual Sepedi Cultural Heritage Festival expands into the Limpopo Cultural Heritage Festival, celebrating Bapedi, Vha-Tsonga, Vha-Venda, and Ndebele cultures.
